The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) leads the global campaign that is held every year on June 26 to raise awareness about the major challenge that illicit drugs represent to society as a whole, especially for young people. The goal of the campaign is to mobilize support and to inspire people to act against drug use.
UNODC selects themes for the International Day and launches campaigns to raise awareness about the global drug problem. Health is a recurrent theme of the world drug campaign. The 2014 campaign theme is “A message of hope: the problems caused by drug use are preventable and treatable.”

The 2014 edition of the World Drug Report was presented on June 23 to United Nations Member States by UNDOC Executive Director Yury Fedotov, in Vienna, during commemoration of the International Day and can be fully downloaded from the UNDOC website.
