The Republic of Korea was one of the first countries in the world to be heavily affected by COVID-19. In response to the outbreak in the country, the government implemented a robust, nationwide response, built on intensive testing and contact tracing, medical care for affected people and a clear public information campaign. This response, drawing on lessons learned from past outbreaks and the advice and support of WHO, brought the epidemic under control and demonstrated the importance of adherence to proven public health measures.
