Investment in emergency preparedness and health system strengthening has helped Rwanda confront the COVID-19 crisis effectively, control the emergence of the virus and protect the health of its population. All-of-government collaboration, led by the country’s president, and adherence to WHO guidance and the fundamentals of outbreak control, from testing and contact tracing to wide use of public health measures, have been the hallmarks of Rwanda’s response.
