This poster outlines the implementation and development of Complementary Medicine (CM) in Peru’s public health system, specifically through EsSalud. It highlights CM’s holistic, biopsychosocial, and spiritual approach, aligned with WHO recommendations. EsSalud began offering CM services 25 years ago and has since been recognized by PAHO/WHO as a Collaborating Center. The system includes centralized regulation, operational units at three levels of care, natural pharmacies, and a wide range of healthcare services, including acupuncture, phytotherapy, and manual therapies. Over one million patients have been treated. It also presents the "Life Reform Program" targeting workers to prevent non-communicable diseases through education in nutrition and lifestyle, with over a million workers screened and more than 40% of at-risk individuals successfully treated.
