This poster presents the National Policy of Medicinal Plants and Herbal Medicines (PNPMF), a key legal framework in Brazil that guides the implementation of public programs ensuring safe and rational use of medicinal plants and herbal products within the Unified Health System (SUS). The policy promotes care strategies based on traditional knowledge and biodiversity, aiming at sustainable use of genetic resources and associated cultural practices. It includes regulatory support (ANVISA, Pharmacopoeia), access to effective herbal medicines (via CONITEC), and funding for clinical research and development. The PNPMF also features the “Living Pharmacy” (Farmácia Viva) program, a model integrated into SUS that covers the entire herbal medicine production cycle — from cultivation to quality control — supporting over 140 projects nationwide.
