To advance the integration of a Whole Health/Whole Person approach, the U.S. Veterans Health Administration launched a phased roll-out of mandatory Whole Health training for all Primary Care staff beginning in 2022, aiming for full coverage by 2024. This two-hour, person-centered course emphasizes clinician well-being, mindful awareness, movement, and practical tools for daily use. Early evaluation results showed that 45 days post-training, participants reported greater confidence and more frequent use of Whole Health strategies, with large effect sizes observed. Surveyed staff indicated a significant shift from occasionally (30% of opportunities) to frequently (70%) asking Veterans about what matters most to them, setting shared goals, and recognizing patients’ strengths
