The definitions of Traditional, Complementary, Alternative, and Integrative Medicine (TCIM/MTCI) are fluid and context-dependent, evolving over time and across regions. To safely and effectively integrate these practices into national health systems, standardization is key. In Peru, the National Institute of Health (NIH) through CENSI promotes evidence-based approaches to TCIM as a foundation for policy development. Integrative medicine emphasizes coordinated, person-centered care that combines conventional and complementary practices.
