Colombia’s Indigenous Own and Intercultural Health System (SISPI) is a culturally grounded framework designed to uphold the right to integral health for Indigenous peoples based on their cosmovisions and ancestral wisdom, emphasizing harmony with nature and the community. With 102 Indigenous groups across the country, SISPI acknowledges and integrates their laws, traditions, spiritual practices, and knowledge systems, while coordinating with the national health system (SGSSS). The system operates through five components: intercultural health care; training and knowledge generation; preservation of ancestral wisdom; political and organizational structures; and effective administration of resources. SISPI promotes "Buen Vivir" (Good Living), a holistic view of health as a balance between personal, social, and environmental wellbeing.
