The SFP Smokefree Map aims to highlight which Member States are providing sufficient and effective protection from passive smoking and which Member States could do more to protect their citizens either through improved legislation or improved compliance:•Dark green countries follow the letter and spirit of the guidelines of Article 8 of the WHO`s FCTC.•Light green countries follow the letter and spirit of the guidelines of Article 8 of the WHO`s FCTC.•Orange countries offer limited protection compliance.•Red countries offer little or no protection to European citizens
