National Wilms Tumor Study Group (NWTSG)

The NWTSG is a Federally funded, multi-institutional study of the treatment of patients with Wilms tumor. The study involves the collaboration of a large number of pediatric surgeons, pediatric oncologists, pediatric radiation oncologists, pediatric urologists, and allied health professionals. The therapeutic studies conducted by the National Wilms Tumor Study Group involve over 100 pediatric oncology treatment centers in the United States, Canada, and several other countries.

Objective: The goals of the National Wilms Tumor Study Group are to increase the survival rate of children with Wilms tumor and other renal tumors of childhood, to study the long-term outcome of children who have been treated successfully for Wilms tumor, to identify adverse effects of treatment for Wilms tumor, to study the epidemiology and biology of Wilms tumor and to make information regarding succesful treatment strategies for Wilms tumor available to physicians around the world.
