It was established in 1909 to investigate the causes of cancer and develop new strategies for its prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. The Institute is structured into Research Centres, Sections, & other units/groups. The work of The Institute ranges from basic laboratory research in molecular cell biology and radiation physics through to clinical trials involving cancer patients, to healthcare research and to epidemiological studies in the human population.
