The BR.E.A.S.T. is a cooperative clinical research group initiated by the Chemotherapy Unit of the Jules Bordet Institute, tumor center of the Free University of Brussels (U.L.B.). Pivotal trials, which are conducted in full adherence with the Good Clinical Practice regulations, are ongoing. With more than 50 centers located in Europe, South Africa, South America and the Middle East, BR.E.A.S.T. encourages the participation of centers located in developing countries to promote clinical research in regions not traditionally involved in this process. The group is also an active member of the Breast International Group (B.I.G.)

Objective: The aim of BR.E.A.S.T. is the development, implementation and conduct of translational research trials in breast cancer adjuvant therapy, in particular to identify biological markers with predictive significance in stage I and stage II breast cancer. To this end, BR.E.A.S.T. engages in intensive collaboration with outstanding European laboratories, whose reputations in the field are well-known.
