The BMDW is a voluntary collaborative effort of bone marrow donor registries and cord blood banks with the goal to provide centralised and anonymous information on the HLA phenotypes and other relevant data of unrelated bone marrow donors and cord blood units and make this information easily accessible to the physicians of patients in need of a hemopoietic stem cell transplant. Participants are 51 bone marrow donor registries from 37 countries, and 29 cord blood registries from 19 countries.
