Objective:
The aim of this document is to assess the health risks related to communicable diseases and other health threats for European citizens during their stay in Brazil for the Rio 2016 Olympics and Paralympics Summer Games,and the public health implications for European countries after travellers’ return to Europe. In addition, the document assesses the risk of disease importation from Europe to Brazil. This assessment provides the basis for ECDC’s monitoring of health threats during the Olympics and Paralympics Summer Games in Brazil.
