The International Nursing Day is celebrated every year on 12 May.
The celebration began in 1965 at the initiative of the International Council of Nurses. The date commemorates the birthday of Florence Nightingale, considered the founder of modern nursing. On this date every year, the International Nursing Council prepares and distributes educational information material for use by nursing professionals, associations, health ministries and health institutions worldwide.
The International Day theme of Nursing 2016 is “Nurses: A Force for Change: Improving the resilience of health systems”
On the occasion of the International Day commemoration of Nursing in 2016, there will be a seminar at PAHO / WHO in which the VHL International Enfermería will be released. The event will be broadcast in real time via WebEx in Portuguese, Spanish and English.
