Americas Cup 2015 – Get vaccinated against Rubella and measles before traveling

 

PAHO / WHO recommends vaccination against measles and rubella before traveling to the Copa America in 2015.

The region of the Americas has eliminated the rubella and this close to eradicating measles.

However, with the completion of the Copa America in Chile, international football event that attracts thousands of people from around the world, care must be redoubled.

For this reason the World Health Organization and Pan American Health Organization (PAHO / WHO) is urging travelers to the Copa America in 2015, scheduled for June 11 to July 4, in Chile, to make sure that they are protected from preventable diseases vaccine, measles and rubella, especially.

International travel and mass-circulation events of people, represent an increased risk of imported cases of measles, rubella and other vaccine-preventable diseases. For this reason, PAHO / WHO is urging travelers to make sure they are current on their vaccinations and if not, to vaccinate against measles and rubella, with at least two weeks before traveling.
